wendt & Co. and have received from them, from time to time, a request to appoint Arbitrators in cas^# of disputed contracts as referred to above.

The last communication received by Eastwood & Holt from Ch. Trede is dated 31st July, 1914. and

has reference to a contract for 200 bales selected cassia broken shipped by Wendt & Co., Hong Kong, per 8.8. Arika, to Trieste, on account of Messrs.

Fratella Weiner, Trieste. The buyers not being content with the uality of the good wished to have

the claim settled by arbitration and Ch. Trede asked

Eastwood & Holt to arrange the arbitration.

Eastwood & Holt replied 31st July, 1914, that

they would dee to the ratter but in the meantime war

broke out and the matter was droppe, as far as

Eastwood & Holt had anything to do it, and correspond-

between them and Ch. Trede ceased.

to W.A. HANNIBAL & CO.

Mr. Holt was unable to throw any light on

the matters referred to herein except that the

reference to the "2 shipments" evidently relates to

arbitration, of which no doubt, 1 shipment is that of

the 200 bales selected cassia broken' above mentioned,

and possibly Ch. Trede have written to Eastwood & Co.

in regard to another shipment but the latter has not

arrived.

The books and correspondence dealing with these

matters were produced and I found them in agreement

with the above information.

Submitted.
